A FREE Sheraton hotel in fabulosa Barcelona? ¿Cómo se dice “free” en la lengua española? ¡Gratis!
Like so many other visitors to this fabulous city, we couldn’t help but fall in love with Barcelona. It’s a beauty! The architecture, the people, the food, the energy, the coast, the edginess of the place. It’s all very calming and exciting at the same time. We went in January, and that was perfect; weather: bright sunshine in the 60s every day, and not too overcrowded with tourists. Even New Year’s Eve out admiring the fireworks was not impossible.
In addition to appreciating our visits to the strikingly beautiful and vehemently original cathedral, homes, buildings, concert hall, and municipal park designed by Gaudi and/or his cohorts, we also enjoyed the Barrio Gótico, las Ramblas, El Encants, the marina, and everything about the neighborhood our hotel was in. Once again, we stayed in a Four Points Sheraton, and once again, we were not disappointed. In fact, we were very impressed by this property, too. A view from the interior of the enchanting Sagrada Familia
Yes, it was another score for us; thanks once again to SPG. This hotel was a Category 3, which meant that we were able to get four nights for free on points at 7000 each, and the fifth night for free, no points. Muy generoso… Thanks to American Express and Starwood!
For this trip, we flew with Turkish Airlines (for the first time), and loved it. We were in a beautiful new aircraft, brightly furnished in the gorgeous color scheme of turquoise and white, staffed by expert professionals who served us wonderful food in our very comfortable seats. We paid for our tickets, but were very impressed by the value; the quality of the experience far surpassed the price paid. A bonus? We earned 100% of the miles we flew with Turkish Airlines on our United Mileage Plus account account. They have an extensive network all over Europe, and it’s pretty easy to plan your trip with a free stopover in that gorgeous city of Istanbul as well. Their prices were unheard of! Especially for such fabulous service on a new and beautiful aircraft. Here is a link to their site: http://www.turkishairlines.com/en-us?returnoldversion
So, you see, even mostly free trips feel really good. Remember: be grateful, not greedy.
