Marrakesh

Morocco is simply magical, and Marrakesh? A traveler’s treat! FREE nights at the beautiful Le Meridien N’Fils Hotel there? Well, that’s lodging that’s hard to beat.

With gardens so lush, and a pool so cool, why stay anywhere else? Although the updated rooms have lost all charm, the fact that this hotel is a Category 1, and therefore very easy to gather up enough points to have a nice long stay for free, it’s the only reason, I believe, not to stay in an authentic riad.

The hotel is walking distance (and a lovely walk at that) to Djemma-al-Fna, the main square and one of the craziest and liveliest on the planet, passing by the ancient wall, a minaret and a mosque, we usually took a short taxi ride instead, to save our energy for shopping in the souk, meandering around the medina, dining in a rooftop restaurant, or indulging in an incredible spa experience (or two, or three).  Oh.

And once again, it’s a Starwood Property. They really do have some awesome hotels in fantastic locales. Location, location, location. They get that right!

And now they have a bonus promotion on their co-branded American Express card. Spend $3,000 within the first 90 days, and you get 25,000 points, enough to stay here for a week or more, and really explore- the nearby Menara gardens, the Atlas Mountains, a daytrip to the desert… Annual fee is waived the first year. Mmm, Morocco.  Can you picture yourself there?  I can.
