Always travel with somebody strong enough and willing to help carry your luggage if necessary.
Otherwise, it’s more than okay to set off alone.
My first trip to the Bahamas I was alone (for five days), my second trip to Thailand I was alone (for two weeks), my first visit to Belize, Honduras and Guatemala (for three and a half weeks) was a solo adventure, as was my last visit to Southeast Asia (for four weeks)- in Bangkok, Java, Bali, Lombok, and Borneo.
Each trip was a success, and a great time, filled with lovely experiences. It’s a beautiful world out there.
